my omi say that i am related to this dude. you can see we both have his big nose. hers is pointier than mine. mine looks almost exactly like his in profile, though. she says that there is a genealogical table that clarifies the relation, but i haven't found it yet.

I love genealogy. One of my dad's cousins is really into genealogy, and he has constructed a partial family tree on my paternal side as far back as the 1600s. I appreciate his hard work so much. It really means a lot to figuring out who you are to learn from whence you came.

I do dance. Dance classes have already started. The studio is the one place where I leave everything at the door and where I find myself laughing and cutting up despite everything. Me and my 2 best friends had a (late) Christmas gift exchange today, and it was so wonderful and loving. I felt so surrounded by love and warmth and nothing was bothering me for about 5 hours. I have dance 3-5 days a week. See? I do dance.

he looks utterly brilliant

fictional almost - except we know that he was real

I'm not that happy or carefree to just turn on music and dance. I'm not uninhibited enough.

But I do listen to music often, records if I can.

well, that's okay.

i used to do synchronized swimming. i wasn't really a performer or a competitor (though I won a lot) but i loved the strength and grace and control and practice. i didn't really have my emotions hooked up so that it was very cathartic, but it could have been. it was a relief to let things go and just work and focus. i still stretch all the time.

it was when i stopped that was really the time in my life that i had trouble with food. it was good to swim because, i mean, i was fighting for my body to do things all the time, but it was useful, for doing things in, as well as an aesthetic object with bones and lean muscle.

Soren Lorensen: I like his strangeness of look. I think he lived in an idealistic time, all that building of monuments to structure public space and neoclassical revival.
